Thoughts on Pokemon Violet
More fun than I expected tbh. Running around catching Pokemon is very reminiscent of Arceus, which is the only non-spin-off Pokemon game I've finished in years. The technical issues aren't as glaringly obvious in handheld mode - although they're definitely still really bad. There have been a couple of cute Pokemon designs so far.
I like that I can swap my team out at any time - really helps with the flow of exploring when I don't have to go back to a Pokemon Center. I'm assuming Picnics help even further in that regard. I will say that it's pretty wack that most places are outdoors because I assume GameFreak couldn't figure out a way to make most buildings work in their open world, lol. Also the outfit options are trash, and the opening is way too long. Took me two or three nights just to get the open world going, though I also spent that time going to the classes that unlocked.
Most of the character designs haven't really hit for me, besides the Battle and Econ Teachers.
I have yet to understand why people don't like Nemona. I have an inkling...we'll see. Regardless, I've heard this game has the best story in a Pokemon game, and I'm eager to see if it topples Black and White for me. I'll have more thoughts now that I'm free to move about the cabin open world.
