Another week has flown by, so it's time to talk about what I've been playing. This past week I got knee deep into SaGa, and some other stuff. Let's look!
Bug Fables - The Everlasting Sapling
It was on sale so I grabbed it for my Steam Deck. It is still as cute as I remember, and I love the found family aspect of the cast. The Paper Mario aesthetic is adorbs, and I like the wrinkles they add to that battle system. I've been putting most of my rank ups into skill points so I can use them as often as possible since they spice the game up.
One thing I forgot about this game is how much dialogue there is. There's dialogue between the party for every screen in the game, and the party will talk about every NPC you stand next to as well. And that dialogue will sometimes get updated as the story progresses! It's truly a momentous amount of text, I don't envy the devs for that level of work. But it's appreciated because it really fleshes out this little world of bugs, and helps you get more attached to the party. One particular moment I appreciated was how one of the main characters explicitly calls out how wild it is that they'll just gossip in front of the various NPCs. They do be getting spicy, especially Vi.
Pseudoregalia
I played this on Stream! The platformer feels great, even though I needed a lotta practice with the wall jump. The aesthetic is this perfect blend of N64 and PS1, and somehow reminds me of Ico as far as its architecture. We really need to start capitalizing on this era of nostalgia. No more SNES-inspired games, we go back to the day of low-poly sparseness. And I'm not just saying that because I have next to zero nostalgia for the SNES.
Anyways I don't really have much to say here, other than that the OST is bangin, it's only like $6, and not too long. Well worth your time, check it out!
