I think Escape Room is more entertaining than a lot of people gave it credit for. As far as horror movies go, it's probably one of the best in the PG-13 bracket. It's not a mind-blower or anything, but the puzzles, at least I felt, are really well-thought out and engaging. It's paced perfectly imo - just enough exposition to get a feel for the characters before shit starts popping off. There's good bits of humor. I dunno, I feel like it's a fun ride! And it straddles the line as a thriller too, which makes it a good pick for a "baby's first horror movie" type beat.

It's too bad the sequel completely squandered all my good will by being actually terrible, but! So it goes with movie franchises. Final note: Deborah Ann Woll^[1] is in it and she's in my extremely competitive "white women I find hot" list, so there's that.

The lady from Daredevil! Also she was the motion capture person for Faye in God of War: Ragnarök, which is interesting! ↩︎
