The Descent
Thoughts
The Descent is probably one of the best horror movies of the 2000s. It's still very well done. It capitalizes on some real phobias that I have - the deep dark, claustrophobia, etc. Luckily for me I'm too Black to every put myself in the situation these women find themselves in, so it's all good. Instead I get to watch them fumble their way through an unmarked cave, and the monsters that live there.
The real monster ends up being betrayal. I won't spoil in what way, if you haven't seen it, but it leads to one of the most brutal endings I've ever seen in a horror movie. But it's somehow deeply cathartic at the same time. Very, very well done film. It's awesome that it never got a shitty straight-to-DVD sequel!
