Totally Killer
Thoughts
Totally Killer is actually the first new movie I've watched for 28 Days of Horror Movies. Good first choice! It's a time-travel movie crossed with a slasher, about a girl who goes back in time to save 3 girls and her mom from getting killed by Not!Ghostface in the 80s. It was pretty good! Because I'm a freak I immediately recognized that Kiernan Shipka was the voice actress for Jinora in The Legend of Korra. But ask me what I did yesterday and marvel at my blank stare in response!
The time-travel doesn't always make sense, but the movie is more than kind enough to let us know that "time-travel is stupid" and not to think about it too much. I'm a big fan of not thinking too much, so I gladly obliged and was able to appreciate the movie as a result. I would call this a good movie for people who wanna get into scary movies but don't want to start with like, Hereditary or whatever. It's pretty light on the existential dread and jump scares, and most importantly is honestly extremely funny when people aren't getting stabbed. I mean that btw, I audibly laughed at some scenes, which I rarely do when I'm watching a movie. Kiernan manages to sell being a teen from 2023, commenting on how wildly out-of-pocket 80s America would feel today without that commentary feeling forced or eye-rollingly quippy.
Anyways yeah check it out! A breezy little bout of horror.
