Entry 3 - We Take Those

The problem with trying to be creative when I'm at my nadir emotionally is that each day is a coinflip in potential progress. I'm at a baseline of suckage, but today sucked far more than the last two, and so I feel like I didn't make as much progress as I'd like to. It didn't help that I spent two hours lying on the floor and staring at the ceiling. But hey, that's free and therapy isn't.

Anyways, I'll go over what I got done.

Battlebacks

I found some good ones that match the aesthetic of the Time Fantasy sprites.

Well enough, at least. I just didn't want to use the default.

Portraits

You might have noticed the characters are taking further shape. Thanks to my friend Kiak, who worked at their usual unbelievable pace, they knocked it out of the park with a couple of vague descriptions and some sprites. GOATed, and yes, that includes the sauce.

Levels & Stats

I figured out how to turn off leveling, which was harder than I expected (another plugin was needed). I also adjusted the stat curves and set the party at a static Level, so they're at a baseline that I can now have adjusted with loot.

Victory Screen

Like it says on the tin.

Gold will be obtained so that a player can buy items from a vendor, meaning they could grind it out if they wanted / needed to. Note that any and all of this could be changed as I begin to balance. I haven't started on that just yet.

Symbol Encounters

I managed to pull this off, for the most part. Event chasing just isn't working for me, so the enemies randomly move around, with combat initiating on event touch.

That's. Fine, I guess. I wanted the sense of urgency but this might work out. I'll have to see when I start playtesting. Technically battles aren't needed at all beyond collecting gold, but who cares for a project this small.

That's...basically it. I wish I had more to say, but I don't. I'm hoping the weekend will give me more time to make a bigger chunk of progress to cut into my ever-expanding list of tasks. There's much to do, and for every mole I whack, 4 more appear. RPGs? Pretty complex. Wild, I know.
