Vol 6 - It's the end of the year as we know it

Yo! Quiet letter as I didn't really get much done these past few weeks, shockingly. Frankly I've felt uninspired in general, but that's neither here nor there. I have been consuming media tho, so I may as well get into that.

What I Watched

Cairo Conspiracy (2022)

A very interesting political thriller from Egypt last year. I wrote some thoughts on it you can check out.

Kira & El Gin

I haven't written any extensive thoughts about this one in the Velvet Room, but let me give you the run down: it's Egypt's best selling movie ever, and it's about a bunch of revolutionaries driving out the British Empire from Egypt in the early 1900s. It's very, very good. Check it out - it has English subs!

What I'm Playing

After clearing out a bunch of games from my backlog I've now been mainlining Dragon Quest Monsters - The Dark Prince. It's very good, but I'm not going to get into why for reasons I'll explain in a bit. I was also playing Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia (2023) but I dropped off. The poison swamp did me in. Really enjoyed the time I spent with it though.

And then of course, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. I'm having an absolute blast with this one, and it's been fun seeing my friends get into it and get semi-serious with fighters too. It's F2P so if you haven't tried it yet...👀

The backlog didn't swell up much since last volume - that's good, lmao. I'm enjoying what I have now before things go sicko mode in 2024, starting with Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Velvet Album

100% the Cobalt Core OST. It's extremely, extremely good. The game is too!

Status Update

Like I said, it's been quiet. The next volume is going to be a lot more substantial, because it's the end of the year and I am not immune to constant self-reflection. Hell I do that too much as is, so it only gets worse with the new year.

I've fully written my GOTY 2023 post. 3445 words worth! But I also am listing out my favorite movies and music too, though those will be a little lighter on the writing-side...my fingies hurt and frankly I'm trying to take it easy because I'm emotionally exhausted. It'll come when it's ready - if you've followed me for a while, you'll know that I like to get an art piece done at the end of the year for that sort of post, but that piece is still getting done. I look forward to y'all seeing it.

I've also been doing more personal musings, and looking towards the future as well. Expect to see that sooner. Maybe? I might just wait and dump it all in one big volume 7. We shall see...
